Resolving ACH File Creation Errors in Employer on Demand

Overview

This article explains what to do when an ACH (NACHA) file cannot be created and the error message "No file created based on selected or given information" is displayed. The two most common causes are missing access to local drives when connecting through the RemoteApp session, and an invalid or unavailable FilePath in the Create NACHA File window. Use this guidance to verify both settings and successfully generate the ACH file.

About the "No File Created" Error

When attempting to create an ACH file, the following error may appear: "No file created based on selected or given information." This error indicates that the system was unable to save the file to the specified destination. It does not mean the underlying data is invalid — the destination location is either inaccessible or no longer exists. Two common causes are outlined below.

Cause 1 — Local Drive Access Is Not Enabled in RemoteApp

When opening Employer on Demand through the RemoteApp connection, a security warning prompts you to select which local resources the remote session can access. If Drives is not selected, the application cannot see your local drives and therefore cannot save the ACH file to them. Access to Drives and Clipboard is recommended.

How to Enable Local Drive Access

  1. Close the current Employer on Demand session.

  2. Reopen Employer on Demand.

  3. When the RemoteApp security warning appears, review the "Allow the remote computer to access the following resources on my computer" section.

  4. Select the Drives checkbox to allow the session to see your local drives.

  5. Select the Clipboard checkbox as well (recommended) to allow copy and paste between your local computer and the remote session.

  6. Select Connect to continue.

With Drives enabled, the application will be able to see your local drives and save the ACH file to the selected location.

Cause 2 — The FilePath Is Invalid or No Longer Available

In the Create NACHA File window, the FilePath field controls where the ACH file will be saved. If the folder previously used has been moved, renamed, or deleted, the system will not be able to save the file to that location and the error will appear.

How to Verify and Update the FilePath

  1. Open the Create NACHA File window.

  2. Locate the FilePath field in the Selection section.

  3. Confirm the folder shown in FilePath still exists and is accessible from the RemoteApp session.

  4. If the folder is missing or has been moved, select Browse and choose a valid folder on your local drive.

  5. Verify the Filename field shows the correct file name.

  6. Retry the ACH file creation.

Tips for Preventing the Error

When connecting to Employer on Demand through RemoteApp, always allow Drives and Clipboard access.

Use a consistent, stable folder location (for example, a dedicated ACH output folder on your local drive) so the FilePath remains valid across sessions.

Avoid renaming, moving, or deleting the folder used for ACH file output.

If multiple users generate ACH files, confirm each user has the correct FilePath configured for their environment.

Key Takeaways

  • The "No file created based on selected or given information" error indicates the ACH file could not be saved to the specified destination.

  • The two most common causes are local drive access not being enabled in the RemoteApp connection, or an invalid FilePath in the Create NACHA File window.

  • Enable Drives (and Clipboard) in the RemoteApp security warning before connecting to Employer on Demand.

  • Verify the FilePath in the Create NACHA File window points to a valid, existing folder before creating the file.

  • Using a consistent output folder location helps prevent this error from reoccurring.
