Security Prompt When Opening Employer on Demand

Overview

A recent Windows update introduced a new security prompt that appears when opening Employer on Demand (EOD). This prompt asks you to allow access to your local drives and clipboard. Both permissions are required for EOD to function properly. Additionally, updating to the latest version of ThinPrint is recommended to avoid connectivity issues.

Security Prompt: Allowing Drives and Clipboard Access

When opening EOD after the update, a RemoteApp security warning window will appear titled "Caution: Unknown remote connection." This is expected and is not an error.

In the lower portion of the window, under "Allow the remote computer to access the following resources on my computer," you will see a list of checkboxes. Ensure the following two options are checked:

  • Drives — Without drive access, you will not be able to save reports, create ACH files, or import/export any information from EOD.
  • Clipboard — Without clipboard access, you will not be able to copy and paste information into EOD or from EOD into another program.

The other options (Smart cards or Windows Hello for Business, WebAuthn, and Other supported Plug and Play devices) do not need to be selected. Once Drives and Clipboard are checked, click Connect to launch EOD.

Updating ThinPrint

It is also recommended that you update to the latest version of ThinPrint if you have not already done so. Older versions can cause connectivity issues that may result in the system closing automatically shortly after opening.

  • The new security prompt is expected behavior following the Windows update — it is not an error.
  • Both Drives and Clipboard access must be allowed for full EOD functionality.
  • Updating ThinPrint to the latest version is recommended to prevent connectivity issues and unexpected session closures.
