The Advanced Forms Recognition [AFR] System

The AFR can scan and recognize almost any type of form, apply the proper document name
and reference number, and file into the proper folders within Doc.|t’s Work Binders. This is
a form sorting tool and does not provide auto-population of tax slip data into the Tax
software programs.
Should your firm use a scan sorting software (such as CCH Scan) or a scan and auto-populate
program, then the following discussion of use of the AFR is not relevant.

How It Works

Doc.|t AFR can recognize an unlimited number of documents, both prescribed formats and
non-standard formatted forms without any degradation to system performance. Doc.|t AFR is
supplied with about 85 forms most commonly used for US and Canadian Forms preparation
within its AFR Forms Library.
Forms are scanned in batches using the Doc.|t Scan and OCR programs (or Doc.|t Watch for
network-attached scanners). A single searchable PDF is created for the batch of forms and
placed in My lnbox. It may then be processed with the Doc.|t AFR System from within the
Work Binder program. Recognized documents will be named and placed in the appropriate
folders. Unrecognized documents will be placed in an “Unrecognized Pages” folder. They
may then be displayed, manually named and, if the form name exists, they will
automatically move to the appropriate folder.

The AFR Forms Library

A library of prescribed formatted form images reside in the system. These images are
scanned into the system and are stored in text files. Multiple variations of one form can
exist in the library. (IE a W-2 /T4 can have one form, two forms or four forms on the page.
Each is a W-2 / T4 but the appearance of each form is different.)
