Making and Distributing PDF Stamps

Making Transparent Individual Stamps:

·         The numbers 2460 through 2469 are Unicode for the circled numbers 1 through 10

·         To make a stamp palette in Doc.It PDF Editor for those 10 circled numbers with red font color:

o   Make a working directory on your computer desktop called ‘Stamps’

     o   Open MS Word

§  Type 2460

§  Hold down your alt key and press x (this will turn the Unicode number into a circled 1)

§  Select the circled number you just created

§  Change the font to Cambria Math

§  Change the font size to 8

§  Change the font color to red

o   Save the Word document into the Stamps directory on your desktop

§  Name it “1 Red.docx”

     o   Open Doc.It PDF Editor

§  Click the Stamp tool dropdown button and then click Stamp Palette at the bottom of the dropdown window.

§  Click the Add New Button and then select Add New Stamp from File

§  Browse to the MS Word document you made in the previous step and select it

§  In the New Stamp Options section at the bottom of the window, give the stamp a name in the Stamp Title Field

·         It is common to name each one using the numeral it represents (e.g. 1, 2, etc)

§  Click Add New next to the dropdown labeled Pick a Stamp Collection

§  Provide a descriptive name like ‘Red Numbers’ and click ‘OK’

o   Repeat these steps to add the numbers 2 thru 10.

o   Repeat these steps to make an identical but different color palette of the same numbers named ‘Blue Numbers’.

o   Includes Unicode charts for circled numbers and letters and a:

§  Link to Dingbat – solid circles containing numbers

§  Link to Mathematical Operators that includes other common symbols and punctuation

o   You can repeat the steps above to make other unique palettes your firm may wish to use (e.g. circled letters in various colors).

Distributing Stamps:

·         When you have created the various stamps and stamp collections you wish everyone on your team to have and use:

o   Navigate to c:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Stamps

o   Each PDF in this directory will represent one of the stamp collections you created in the steps above. (They may have unique alphanumeric file names as they are created and  automatically as you add each stamp to a stamp collection).

§  Before copying these PDFs, we recommend opening each one to identify which stamp collection it contains, then closing it and renaming it with a right click to match the stamp collection name it represents. This step is not mandatory but is highly advisable for administration purposes.

o   Copy each of these PDFs (there should be one PDF for each stamp palette you create) to the computer and path for each user c:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Stamps.

§  You will only need to copy the PDFs you created with custom stamps in new stamp collections. The PDFs named 2017 Tickmarks, Signatures, and Numbers do not need to be copied as these are already on each computer the Doc.It Client is on.

·         If you have administrator level rights on your firm’s network, you can copy the PDFs from the path you created them on c:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Stamps to \\DocItServer\ to \\SERVERNAME\Doc-ItServer\Client Setup\Stamps

o   When you copy the PDFs to the server path listed, each Doc.It client should pick them up automatically the next time the client is restarted.
