Reinstalling Doc.It 4 PDF Printer
Sometimes it is necessary to completely remove the Doc-It 4 PDF Printer and re-install. This procedure will remove the printer component, clean up duplicate printer objects and resolve most issues that a Reset Printer could not. A reboot will be required.
If you will be performing this from a Remote Desktop or terminal server, then you will need to have all users log out out before beginning and the server will need to be placed in install mode when uninstalling, or installing anything. To place the server in install mode, run Command Prompt (CMD) as administrator and run the following command:
change user /install
1. Remove the Doc.It 4 PDF Printer (or PDF-XChange Printer 2012) from Printers and Scanners using the Remove Device option
Alternatively from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers.
2. If Print Management is available (Start> search "Print Management"), remove any Doc.It 4 PDF Printer or PDF-XChange Printer 2012 Objects under All Printers. Also remove PDF-XChange 5.0 driver under All Drivers.
If these are already removed or Print Management is not available, proceed to next step.
3. Uninstall PDF-XChange 2012 using Programs and Features and reboot.
4. Re-install the Doc.It 4 PDF Printer
If on a terminal server you will need to run change user /install from an admin CMD again.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Doc.It Suite 4\Doc.It 4\Third Party\PDFX5SA_sm.exe - Accept all defaults - The restart can be postponed if needed.
5. Reset Printer.
If on a terminal server, you can now run change user /execute to bring the server back into normal operation.
