Upgrading 4.6 Environments Best Practices (Agents Only)
Not a step by step guide, but a list of best practices and quirks in the upgrade process that I have found. I'll add more as I think of them. To help in the transition to support.Different installers available (not all will be needed, for instance gateway updates are not released as often, or the firm may not have cluster or portal) You will notice there is no Cluster Agent installer yet.
EnterpriseServicesSetup.exe
SuiteWindowsClientBundle.exe
- SuiteWindowsClient.x86.exe
- DesktopIntegration.exe
PortalServicesSetup.exe
MobileGatewayServiceSetup.exe
WatchAutoFileService.exe
- There is currently a new field in the CRM for cluster server, but this may not be upto date going forward. See email sent on 6/1/2022 "4.6 Cluster Agent Exists?" to see how to determine if there is indeed a cluster agent.
- Shutdown related services before beginning any update - Enterprise, Cluster and Portal have services to shutdown.
- Currently, per Development, make sure to run this command to kill any MMC instances before beginning the EnterpriseServices update: taskkill /F /IM mmc.exe
- When updating Portal or Gateway - take note of the SSL binding in IIS, as the updater removes this and it needs to be re-added.
- The bundle installer works well.
