Scan a QR Code

This function allows the User to position the camera on the back of the device or over a QR code to collect the contents of that code.

If this is a new asset , i.e., not on the database, there are only two boxes on this screen. The first box is populated with the code that was collected in the previous step. Enter the Name of the asset (District Asset Manager does not require this to be a unique name), then select Save. The asset details are displayed and the user can answer to the questions.

The third question Current Status allows the User to choose the amount or type of use that this item has, or can have, from the list provided.

There are a number of red buttons that have the following specific purposes:

The first and last buttons are for Save, the second, third and fourth are for Change. Select the required red Change button to display a list of either Asset types, Department, Location.

The other questions on the page allow the User to add or edit whatever answers are available for the chosen asset. The questions have the following characteristics:

A drop-down arrow allows the User to choose from a predefined list of options. The format indicator (DD/MM/YY) indicates that a date is required (if known). The date can be chosen from the date picker that is displayed when the User selects the relevant answer.

The format indicator determines a currency field and allows the User to enter a value (if known).

Questions that have an underline allow the User to select the question and the camera on the device is opened. These questions may relate to QR codes or barcodes that the device may be able to collect and add in the entry that these codes contain.

Questions that have a red asterisk next to them indicate they are important and should be answered.

Select Save to save the changes on the device.

To transfer this information to the main District Asset Manager database, select Sync. This operation is used to pass information both to and from the main database.

Select Media to either add a photo or a video.

The device has been designed to scan QR codes. There may be some barcodes that it cannot scan due to colour, density, size, position, or any other characteristic.

Manual Add

This option allows the user to enter an Asset ID to add a new asset without scanning a QR code.
